More than 3,200 registered runners wrapped up the year with a sporty finish at the Berlin New Year's Eve Run. The final running kilometers of 2024 were rewarded not only with jelly-filled donuts and a medal, but also with a fantastic view from Drachenberg in Grunewald.

The event was sold out even days before the start. Never before had so many participants taken on the challenges of the year's final run. Many of the runners came not only with sporting ambition, but also with elaborate costumes. From colorful New Year's party decorations to imaginative outfits – the Berlin New Year's Eve Run was also a celebration of creativity. Whether as Santa Claus, an astronaut, or a sporty year-end character – the vibrant mix created a lively atmosphere and a unique flair.
The route took participants along the idyllic forest paths of Grunewald, before reaching the highlight of the run – the breathtaking view from Drachenberg – which provided some truly special moments. From there, an impressive panoramic view of the city unfolded, prompting many runners to take a brief pause and catch their breath.

The best times were also celebrated, with Johannes Motschmann (31:32 min) and Leandra Lorenz (37:00 min) leading the way, crossing the finish line with the fastest times in the main race over 10.2 kilometers. However, it was especially the shared experiences and the joyful atmosphere that made the New Year's Eve Run the perfect way to end the year. Even former professional cyclist Jens Voigt had no regrets about leaving his bike behind for the event.
